Arrow Electronics serves as a supply channel partner for more than 150,000 original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers and commercial customers through a global network. The company maintains over 300 sales facilities and 45 distribution and value-added centers, serving over 80 countries.
Arrow expanded its business in China in 1990s, and today we have 25 sales offices, with more than 2000 employees across Mainland China. We connect our customers with the latest technology solutions and engineering expertise to build, design and create everything – smarter medical devices, smarter cars, better homes, better planes, better hospitals, and better cities.
In Arrow, we value our people. We believe employees performance measurement should not only be based on WHAT he/she has achieved, but also HOW to achieve it. The “WHAT” is determined by performance goals and the “HOW” is identified by our Arrow Core Competencies.
We identified Arrow Core Competencies as Accountable (holding self and other accountable to meet commitments), Collaborate (building partnerships and working collaboratively with others), Drives Results (consistently achieving results, taking on new opportunities and tough challenges), Customer Focus (building strong customer relationships and delivering customer centric solutions) and Innovation (creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful).
For people managers and executive management team, we also require Talent Innovation (aattracting, selecting, developing and engaging the best talent to meet current and future business needs) and Global Strategic Mindset (taking a broad view when approaching issues, using a global lens. Seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies).
LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Arrow has been spearheading the “Management Essential” program across Mainland China. The program aims at equipping people managers with understanding of Arrow’s Talent and Performance Management philosophy and processes and providing practical tools that enable people managers to develop and retain the right people with the right skills.
We have also launched the “Sales and Marketing Essential” program for senior and middle level sales and marketing leaders to enhance functional capabilities, cross functional collaborations and people management skills.
“Growth Mindset” is a dedicated program for newly promoted managers and young potential talents in Arrow, which encourages them to keep a positive mindset and attitude to see challenges and failures as springboards for growth and for stretching their existing abilities.
The Learn @ Arrow is an online learning portal which provides hundreds of online learning and development courses that Arrow employees can access 24/7. This online training portal is aimed at promoting self-learning and for greater employees’ network as well as career opportunities.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT – DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
At Arrow, we believe that only the highest-performing teams, which maximize the power of different opinions, perspectives and cultural references, will succeed
in the global marketplace. We held a “Women Leaders Forum” where female employees could engage with senior leader to encourage female employees to take charge of their career, be brave to pursue their dream and build their career in Arrow.
“Millennial Forum” is a program for millennials employees and people managers to understand each other better. Millennials and people managers share their views about their expectations on the counterparts.
The “Reverse Mentoring” program directly connects senior leaders with the young potential talents in Arrow, allow them to further understand about millennials employees’ thoughts, ideas, lifestyles, preferences and to learn the latest technological trends from this group of people.
“New Hire Talent Circle” is a program for new joiners to meet the company’s Vice President after their onboarding in 30 days. New joiners learn the company’s business strategy and direction directly from the executive management team, share and discuss their questions and ideas with each other, meet and make friends with their peers.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT – CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)
Arrow CSR program continues to advance frontiers in innovation through our work with people, technology and the communities we serve. Our mission is to guide today’s innovators to a better tomorrow, always thinking Five Years Out.
Arrow believes that innovation is a skill set that can be taught, and innovators have common traits that can be developed. Since 2013, we have organized the “Innovation Club” program through collaborating with several top universities in Mainland China, aimed at promoting an innovative and stimulating environment for university students and challenging them to turn their creative ideas into innovative products that positively impact life.
At Arrow, we focus not only on the development of new generations, but also extend our love and care to special groups of people. “Caring Center/Foster Home Visit” is an event where we work with different charitable organisations across Mainland China to organize donations and select volunteers from employees and leaders to visit and spend time with kids with special needs.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT – WORK-LIFE BALANCE
“Family Day” is one of our tradition 5-star events in Arrow where we invite children of employees to their parents’ workplace to have fun and make friends. We treat employees as family members and connect them with each other. It is a straightforward way to we show our respect and appreciation to employees, and a demonstration of our support for employees to keep balance between work and personal lives.
Work-Life Balance Engagement
At Arrow, we promote and encourage “work-life balance” culture among employees, we believe that employees’ health is the truly ultimate wealth, and employees well-being and healthy living are important to us.
In June 2017, we held the 3rd edition of the “24 Hours Run for Charity” in Beijing. Over 400 employees registered across 8 cities in China. By the end of the day, we ran 4200 kilometres in total and raised RMB 4200 for charity programs.
Outdoor Social Club
The “Outdoor Social Club” is a wechat group formed by volunteers from Arrow employees with common interests in outdoor activities, including hiking, running, badminton, football and basketball. The idea is to promote “go-out” lifestyle, and encourage employees to spend more time on sports and outdoor activities.
Work Frame Digitalization
As a leading company in technology and innovation, Arrow has been committed to build a digital workforce. In Arrow, tools and recourses of self-services have been released on line, employees and managers can easily access via their laptops or mobile devices.
