Healthier, Longer, Better Lives
We uphold living healthier, longer and better lives. We promote holistic health and wellbeing by empowering people to take charge of their health. This is the same philosophy we apply to our employees, which is why we implemented a broad range of initiatives that encourage them to embrace total wellness through Philam Vitality.
Apart from a comprehensive medical package for employees, activities that promote wellness are regularly implemented as part of employee engagement initiatives. These include company-sponsored sports tournaments, fitness activities (i.e. bootcamp, basketball, Zumba classes, yoga classes, etc.). All employees are also automatically enrolled in the Philam Vitality program which rewards its members for knowing and improving their health.
Our Leaders as Advocates of a High Performance Culture that Cares and Respects our People
In Philam Group, we cultivate a culture of high performance shaped by our leaders who embrace the three essentials of leadership – Clarity, Courage and Humanity. We expect our leaders to possess clarity of vision, purpose, and business direction, demonstrate courage in their actions, and consider the human element in everything they do, with the understanding that our industry is all about people.
To manage and measure our Employee Engagement, we have the AIA Employee Engagement survey using the Gallup® Framework for Engagement. This is an annual initiative to gather feedback from employees and create impact plans in a bottom-up approach. This has been running since 2011.
We ensure a steady flow of information sharing through different channels. We have daily announcements for urgent and top news of the day. For weekly information, we have a weekly bulletin and weekly messages from our CEO. We also hold monthly leadership information download called ManCom PitStop where people leaders hear about the different initiatives across the different functions as well updates on the strategy. They get communication packs which they then use to cascade to their teams. On a quarterly basis, we also have our Employee Townhall where our CEO gives a business update to all employees.
Our people programs are actively driven by our leaders, believing that creating the right culture and development should start from the top. We have a number of leader-led development programs where our Executive and Management Committee members actively lead, participate, share insights, mentor employees and facilitate full-day workshops.
We have a set yearly budget for programs that aim to address the needs of different segments of the workforce targeted for Individual Contributors,
People Managers and Senior Leaders in the organization.
We value a strong rewards system that recognizes our employees’ hard work and contribution. Our Rewards Philosophy is built on the principle of providing an equitable, motivating and market-competitive remuneration package that fosters a performance-oriented culture. Our pay-for-performance culture is aligned to our operating philosophy of doing the right thing, in the right way, with the right people. Philam Group also believes in making the employees stakeholders in the company through the Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP).
I Make It Possible!
Our people are at the heart of our business. We are guided by our operating philosophy of doing the right thing, in the right way, with the right people… and the results will come, believing that how we conduct our business will help us achieve our desired results. I make it possible! is our battle cry, with our people understanding the importance of their contribution to the organization, knowing that an empowered culture assures us of sustainable results that will benefit us and our customers for years to come.
The sustainability framework and execution for Philam Group is done through Philam Foundation, Inc. Philam Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of the Philam Group that is now on its 21st year. The Foundation’s establishment was borne out of our serious intent to be a good corporate citizen and fulfill our social responsibility to the community, advocating education and financial literacy, as well as promoting healthy living in our thrust to take an active role in nation building.
These are manifested in our key programs that support the pillars of healthy , through the Alliance for the Philippines’ Health and Advocacy (ALPHA) which is spearheading the expansion of the country’s first ever hospital-based cancer registry program in partnership with the Philippine College of Surgeons, Philippine College of Physicians and Cancer Registry Philippines Foundation; wealthy, through Philam Savings and Values Education Sessions (Philam SAVES), the Foundation’s financial literacy program that teaches the value of saving and being thrifty to children and their parents; and wise, through Philam Paaralan, by building classrooms in calamity-stricken and unserved and under-served areas around the country. Targets for the annual goals are based on the direction and guidance of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, that are also based on Philam Group’s core activity.
