In 2009, HSBC obtained approval to set up a local subsidiary in Taiwan known as the HSBC Bank (Taiwan) Limited. Since then Taiwan’s business continues to play a key role in HSBC’s Greater China platform and is one of HSBC’s key growth markets in Asia.

The foundation of the HSBC Human Capital Development Model is a combination of HSBC Leadership Capability and HSBC Values, which are embedded in our day-to-day processes of Talent Selection, Performance Management, Learning and Development, Talent Development and Succession Plan, in addition to Staff Engagement. By making itself the Best Place to Work, HSBC has embedded the Healthiest Human System globally which includes three key themes: Work-life balance, Culture and behaviours, and Well-being. By encouraging Work-life balance, we support our people managers in understanding our staff’s personal needs through regular check-in and provide benefits (which is above what the labor law required) and flexible working programme to support staff’s specific needs. By embedding Culture and behavior, we continue to strengthen the culture and behaviours of supportiveness and encourages our staff to “speak up” about their feelings and thoughts. Finally, for the part on Well-being, we care not only about staff’s performance but also physical and mental health. Thus we have the Employee Assistance Programme to support staff and make staff stronger and better.
NURTURE FUTURE TALENTS FROM UNIVERSITIES
HSBC has always dedicated itself to nurture future talents. In addition to its well-established and worldly renowned Global Graduate Programme and Internship Programme, in 2019 we hosted the HSBC Business Case Competition to enhance young talents’ “further skills” through the English business case competition and training sessions. This will also provide students from universities a platform to connect with the international business and finance community and opportunities to exchange with young talents from other countries.
