Twenty-six companies in Hong Kong were named among the best companies to work for in Asia by HR Asia Magazine, in a survey that covered over 5,200 employees across the country.

Winners of the award are selected from 138 nominees among 20 industries, based on a proprietary survey that assesses the company’s working environment, HR practices, employee engagement and the resulting job satisfaction.

Companies named as the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia include Avery Dennison Hong Kong B.V., Equinix Hong Kong Ltd, Hang Lung Properties Limited, Lee Kum Kee Company Ltd, Mcdonald’s Restaurants (Hong Kong) Limited, QI Group Hong Kong, Swarovski Hong Kong Limited and The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited.

“This is one of the most structured and extensive survey on employee engagement and workplace practices in this region. Through this survey, HR Asia has discovered that many of these companies – both local and international – have workplace practices that are on par with the best in the world,” said Mr. William Ng, group publisher and editor-in-chief of Business Media International, the publishers of HR Asia.

Words of Wisdom

Some of the winners for the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Award offered their quotes on the meaning of their participation and what the award meant to them;

“As the saying goes, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. And this award recognizes the value that we place in one of the most essential parts of Equinix – our people. In today’s competitive business world, we recognise that it is important to understand the motivations and aspirations of our people, which is why we put ‘development’ at the core of our entire human resources strategy. This begins the moment an employee joins our family, extends into our leadership training, is reflected in our CSR initiatives and reiterated in the regular rewards and recognition we give to our team. Our belief in the power of interconnection is true in all aspects of our work, acting as the foundation of our corporate culture and human resources values, and I am delighted that this approach has been honoured with this award. Congratulations team!” says Alex Tam, Managing Director of Equinix Hong Kong.

“Avery Dennison as a global leader in the industry is committed to provide an engaging and fulfilling working environment to our employees. We are so proud to be recognized with the HR Asia Best Companies to Work For Award in Asia for the 2nd consecutive year. “We put our corporate mission into practice from a people’s perspective. We always go the extra mile and keep our employer branding real by genuinely caring about our people,” says Bella Chhoa, Assistant Director (Corporate Affairs) of Hang Lung Properties Limited.

“Lee Kum Kee firmly believes that talents are the most valuable asset for business continuity and the key to success. This award serves as great encouragement for us to continue to substantiate our core value of “Si Li Ji Ren” (Considering Others’ Interests) in every aspect of our business operations and become an employer of choice,” says Mr Derek Wu, Executive Vice President – Global Human Resources of Lee Kum Kee Company Ltd.

“At the end of the day, what matters most is that you are pushing yourself to be better than you were yesterday,” says Mr Vijay Eswaran, Executive Chairman of QI Group Hong Kong.

“Only highly engaged and enabled employees will make us successful,” says Ms Joan Ng, Senior Vice President – Product Management Jewelry APAC of Swarovski Hong Kong Limited.
