Based on Aon’s latest 2018 Glogal Employee Engagement Trends Report, employees in Singapore and Malaysia are the least engaged in Asia at 59%. With employee engagement being essential to creating a happier and healthier workforce, Feet’s Sdn Bhd has launched its new employee engagement app.
The name Feet’s is an acronym for ‘Formulating Employee Engagement and Talent Strategy’ but is also intentionally picked after the Happy Feet animated movie for its connotations of happiness. “Work is a very social experience. For us to perform good work, we need to feel a connection to the corporation and its bosses,” said Azhani Samat, Feet’s marketing and brand partner specialist.
The company is a member of Ramssol Group, a human resource (HR) tech company headquartered in Singapore with regional offices in Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Although Feet’s claims to be Malaysia’s first employee engagement app, it bears some resemblance to SelfDrvn that was established in 2015 to improve employee engagement through gamification, communication and analytics.
The chairman and group chief executive officer, Clement Tan, believes that Feet’s is primed to help organisations nurture a sense of belonging among employees. “It is no secret that a happy and engaged worker is a more productive and loyal employee. With Feet’s, HR managers can continuously monitor if an employee is engaged or disengaged and identify appropriate interventions.”
How Feet’s works
Other than it’s collaboration with University Malaya on the weekly employee satisfaction survey feature, Feet’s also includes a Feeters Forum to spark discussions and collaborations, a T’ing! Suggestion box for sharing and voting for ideas and Makan Buddy Meal Group with geotagging technology that suggests nearby eateries.
In terms of incentive, employees are rewarded for their engagement via a points and rewards system. The High Fivers Recognition allows employees to reward their colleagues with badges for a job well done. “It allows them to send something tangible to teammates,” explained Azhani.
The points can then be used to redeem in app rewards such as vouchers and discounts at brand partners which include MBG Fruits, Pinata Party KL, Souled Society and others. “The reward system works on a point to coin conversion system with each coin equivalent to RM0.10.” Moreover, the executive dashboard allows for real-time tracking by managers on overall employee activity, satisfaction and stress levels. The app monitors employee emotions on a daily basis with touch icons, buttons and sliders. “Managers can have a helicopter view of employee satisfaction in the organisation and can even drill down to department level, but not to individual employees.”
Feet’s is now working on creating awareness and educating companies on the importance of employee engagement. While there are other features in the pipeline, the company’s priority is to focus on its social media marketing efforts through polls and other interactive means. “We can then take this data to companies to convince them of the benefits of Feet’s.”
